Prof. Keshav Yashawant Rajpure is currently working as a Head in the department of Physics at Shivaji University, Kolhapur. He was born on 24th July, 1971 in small village of Satara district. He was the first ranker student throughout his academic career. He had completed B.Sc. degree in Physics at Rayat Shikshan Sanstha’s Sharadchandra Pawar College, Lonand in 1992 with university first rank, so he was awarded with Prof. Shirke Award, Warange Award and Swami Scholarship. Then he was a member of Shivaji University, Student Council. In 1994 he successfully completed M.Sc. (Physics) and secured Kulkarni-Jambhalikar award for having stood first in merit.

He worked as Junior Research Fellow and Senior Research Fellow under the guidance of Prof. (Dr.) C.H. Bhosale and was awarded with Ph.D. degree in 2000. He had qualified STATE ELIGIBILITY TEST (SET) examination in Physical Sciences in 2002, even though the result of this examination was only 0.1%. His interested research topics include; Thin films, Solar cells, Transparent conductive oxides, Photoelectrochemistry, Gas Sensors and Photoelectrocatalysis (water purification). He was honoured for his contribution in research work by awarding a life-membership of Maharashtra Academy of Sciences at National Chemical Laboratory, Pune in 2015.

Till now he has published 199 research articles in reputed international journals and acquired 8783 citations. h-index of his publications is 57 and i10 index is 166. He has successfully guided 15 Ph.D., 2 M.Phil. and 59 M.Sc. students. Currently 6 M.Sc. students and 7 Ph.D. scholars are working under his guidance. He participated in more than 50 national and international conferences and has organized most of the conferences organised by his department. He has published 5 books and filed 2 patents. He successfully completed 5 research projects worth 86 lakhs, which were funded by various funding agencies of central government. He was instrumental in establishing various facilities in PIFC (Physics Instrumentation Facility Centre). So, university has entrusted additional responsibilities of head of the departments of USIC (University Science Instrumentation Centre) of CFC (Common Facility Centre) on him. Currently he is working as coordinator of SAIF (Sophisticated Analytical Instrumentation Facility Centre) at Shivaji University. He is a member of Board of studies of Karnataka University Dharwad, TC College Baramati, Vivekanand College Kolhapur, DKTE Ichalkaranji, JSPM's Rajarshi Shahu College of Engineering Tathawade Pune and KBP College Pandharpur.
